Educator Website Recommendations

  • The Art of Education University

Starting as a blog for art teachers, The Art of Education is now a full-fledged online university for achieving an Art Education Masters. You can still access a lot of content for free in their Magazine or by searching by topic. Great source for discovering art teaching methods!

  • The Art Story

Your one-stop shop for researching art history facts, The Art Story clearly lays out the key accomplishments of artists while also differentiating between the various art movements.

  • Smarthistory

Videos and essays by curators and art historians which encourage rigor and depth in art criticism (also published on Khan Academy). They have content on all the required pieces for AP Art History—a lifesaver!

  • Art Class Curator

For ideas on how to engage with artworks outside of essays and videos, I highly recommend Art Class Curator. The founder, Cindy Ingram, is on a mission to build art appreciation through connection, and she has a large library of worksheets and lesson plans (some hidden behind a membership fee).

  • Teachers Pay Teachers

If your classroom has a budget, you can download other teacher’s materials for fairly cheap on Teachers Pay Teachers. It saves a lot of time making your own powerpoints and worksheets! (Art teachers, let us know what your seller page is and we’ll post a link!)
